Legal Services

Many of our alums go on to law school or legal careers and credit the Washington Program as key part of their discernment process. We've had students with legal, lobbying, or government relations internships at:

  • Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck

  • Georgetown Law, Criminal Justice Clinic

  • Holland & Knight LLP

  • K&L Gates

  • Public Defender Service for District of Columbia

K&L Gates

Ale Orellana Muniz, Class of 2020

“In my internship at K&L Gates, I assisted the Government Affairs team with policy research projects, memos, and Congressional hearing coverage. I also prepared daily immigration reports for clients and gained familiarity with key immigration and transportation policies that affected different aspects of the policy advice we provided clients. I also worked very closely with the other undergraduate and graduate student interns on long term projects we had to complete. After interning at a law firm for a semester, I feel like I have the necessary knowledge to discern my career after graduation and pursue law school with confidence.”

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck

"I covered congressional hearings and researched bills to keep clients informed about the latest developments in Washington. By completing these projects, I gained a better understanding of several issues including transportation, immigration, trade, and labor policy. I also became more knowledgeable about the institutional and strategic framework of government relations by working at this intersection of politics, business, and law."
