Biography
Krystle Stricklin is the Assistant Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C. She earned her PhD in art history at the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. Her dissertation is titled Grave Visions: Photography, Violence, and Death in the American Empire, 1898-1913. She earned her BA and MA in art history from Florida State University. She specializes in the history of photography, Art of the United States, and the visual culture of war and US imperialism. She was a 2019-2020 SAAM Predoctoral Fellow and a recipient of the Joan and Stanford Alexander Award for dissertations in photography from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 2021.
